JEEP TOURS

JUDEAN DESERT

Located between Jerusalem and Jericho, the Judean Desert is a spiritual place of eerie beauty, majestic cliffs and arid rocks stretching to the sky. During this journey you will enjoy the beautiful, endless desert landscape, meet the welcoming Bedouins- the desert nomadic, and, with a bit of luck, watch some of the desert most unique wild animals. Throughout history, the Judean desert was home to a large community of monks which followed known biblical stories to find a soulful experience in the desert. Away from daily civilized temptations, they lived a life of deprivation and isolation within the dozens of caves scattered around this mountainous desert. Our route will also take us to Mar Saba Greek Orthodox Monastery, which is located east of Bethlehem. The monastery was built 1,500 years ago, and is one of the oldest still-inhabited monasteries in the world. As the Monastery of St. George in Northern Israel, Mar Saba was also founded by monks seeking solitude and to emulate the prophets, Jesus and John the Baptist.

Duration: 9 Hours – Price per person: $850 (up to 4 people)

The distance from major cities is what makes Mitzpe Ramon a perfect starting point for those adventurers that want to explore the Israeli desert. During this tour we will visit the large crater area, a unique natural phenomenon, meet the welcoming Bedouins- the desert nomadic, and sit down for coffee and tea with them. With a bit of luck, we might even spot some of the desert most unique wild animals.
